Baroque Transformation

Baroque Transformation (2013)

SCI-Arc: 1GA Studio

Instructor: Anna Neimark

PROMPT: The dismantling of form can help us understand how it was originally constructed. The underlying geometries of Baroque architecture were studied and then abstracted in a step-by-step process. Taking Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Sant’Andrea al Quirinale in Rome for a precedent, the plan was analyzed, re-drafted, and then transformed. The result is somewhat 'beastly', take on a distorted oblique view of the existing plan.
