Mexico City Skyscraper (2015)

SCI-Arc: 2GB Studio

Instructor: Jenny Wu

PROMPT: A conceptual design for a skyscraper in Mexico City, the form of the structure is a sheath cut with figural objects, while inner figural tubes are dissolved by the subtraction or addition of smaller 'tubules'. The essential relationship for this design is that of two inverse operations interacting. The exterior of the building is a complex shell, and the advantage to the design is the creation of open spaces that are caught between the figuration of the exterior and the interior. Produced in collaboration with Patrick Geske.
