Threegandhot House (2014)

SCI-Arc: 1GB Studio

Instructor: Jonah Rowen

PROMPT: A play on words, the Threegandhot House started by studying a precedent: the Tugendhat Haus by Mies Van Der Rohe. The form was derived from the Modular Variations, which were created through an abstract derivation of the original form. The siting created a cantilevered, sweeping structure, with four internal levels, and the interior wall subdivisions came from a process of connecting the exterior edges of the outer geometry. Patterns and windows were also derived from the original rotation axes of each individual piece of the three piece composition.
